K J Somaiya College of Engineering (KJSCE) was established in 1983. After becoming an autonomous college in 2014, KJSCE was accredited with the top NAAC ‘A’ grade in 2017. K J Somaiya College is considered one of the best private engineering college in Mumbai. Somaiya Campus is spread over an area of 65 acres.
The greatest strength of the college is the vast number of teachers with highest academic qualifications, Ph.D., and rich teaching and research experience.

K J Somaiya College of Engineering (KJSCE) is among the top private colleges in Maharashtra for engineering. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), 2020 ranking of KJSCE is 171 in engineering. The Times ranking(West Zone) is whooping 6.
HOW TO JOIN KJSCE MUMBAI
There are following phases of admissions
- Phase 1 – On the basis of JEE Main paper 1 (Jan 2020)
- Phase 2 – SET Exam
Further Phases of admission based on JEE Mains (May-June), Somaiya Entrance Test for Engineering (SET-E 2020) and MHT CET 2020 will be there.
The application form Fees is INR 2, 000/- (non-refundable), for all the above 4 phases put together.
However candidates appearing for Somaiya Entrance Test for Engineering (SET-E 2020) will have to pay additional INR 2, 000/- towards examination fees (non-refundable). Candidates can apply for all the phases in the same application form by selecting appropriate options using tick-mark, provided the candidate is eligible for the respective phase. A provisional seat will be offered based on the merit, branch preference and availability of seats taken together. The candidate will be communicated via email about his/her offered seat or waitlisted number.

PG Students are shortlisted based on the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) Exam score.
Admissions to KJSCE, Mumbai are strictly based on merit only through on-line centralized admission process as per the guidelines of Government of Maharashtra and are conducted by Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra.
MHT CET PATTERN
- The exam will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted online.
- Either student can choose PCM or PCB.
- The duration of the exam is 3 hours.
- Physics and Chemistry paper is of 90 minutes and Maths/Biology Paper is of 90 minutes.
- The format of the questions paper is shown in the image below.

There are a total of 150 Multiple Choice Questions(MCQ) with 4 options out of which one is correct. There are 50 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology. For each correct answer in Physics and Chemistry, +1 mark is awarded and Maths/Biology +2 mark is awarded. There is no negative marking. Zero mark is awarded for not answering the question. The maximum marks for the exam are 200.

OTHER FACILITIES AT KJSCE
The college is housed in two contiguous buildings, named Aryabhata and Bhaskaracharya both located on the Somaiya Vidyavihar Campus in Vidyavihar East, which is well-connected via trains, metros & buses, allowing easy access across Mumbai. The buildings are spacious and friendly to the specially-abled, with facilities that enable students to enjoy a successful academic and social life.
On-campus accommodation is made available for students coming from outside Mumbai on request. Campus has 3 hostels for girls and boys (Separate).
The college comprises of well-equipped laboratories, spacious and air-conditioned classrooms with multimedia facility and a huge library with all the latest journals, magazines and books. It also has spacious and hygienic canteen facility.
SPORTS FACILITY :
Somaiya Vidyavihar campus has facilities for all major sports like football, volleyball, basketball and it also has tennis courts, gymnasiums, squash courts, etc. There is also an open-air Amphitheatre inside the campus.

HOW TO REACH KJSCE
By train: Somaiya Campus is situated near Vidyavihar Station (After Kurla) which is a local train station in the central line. One can also reach Ghatkopar railway station/ metro station and catch auto-rickshaw which will take around Rs. 30 (2 Km fare).
By Air: International airport is around 13 Km from Somaiya Campus.
